What is PRP Hair Treatment?
PRP hair treatments use your platelet-rich plasma to signal new hair growth by triggering cellular regeneration and collagen production. Your current platelet levels, amount of hair thinning, and overall health are factors that determine the effectiveness of the treatment.
During your treatment, your Rejuvenessence practitioner draws a sample of your blood that is then spun in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the blood into its individual parts, one of which is the PRP. After extracting the PRP, the practitioner injects the platelets into target areas to stimulate hair growth. The entire procedure typically takes around 30 minutes.
You may receive 6-12 injections per session, depending on the size of the treatment site. You will need multiple PRP hair treatments to see optimal results.
PRP Hair Treatment Benefits
PRP hair treatment has little to no risk of side effects since it uses your own blood and does require any incisions. Some of the other benefits of PRP hair treatments include:
No Downtime
Unlike a hair transplant, PRP hair treatments do not require any downtime. You may experience mild redness or swelling at the injection site, but it is not noticeable.
Quick Procedure
Your PRP hair treatment should take 30 minutes or less to extract and inject the PRP. You will be able to receive your injections during your lunch break.
Natural Growth
Unlike implants, PRP triggers your hair growth by signaling the target area’s healing components. Since your hair is growing with motivation from your own healing factors, your PRP hair treatment allows for the most natural-looking results.
Better Quality of Hair
You may notice your hair is denser and healthier than before your treatment. Since PRP boosts collagen and other protein production, your hair may be healthier than ever before.
Ideal Candidates for PRP Hair Treatment
Most individuals in good health with expectations that are in alignment with expected results are candidates for PRP hair treatments. Ideal candidates are relatively young and in the early stages of hair loss. PRP hair treatments are best for slowing pattern balding before the weak patches become too pronounced.
If you are not a good candidate for PRP hair treatments, Rejuvenessence provides many other hair loss treatments such as hair transplants. To know what hair treatment is best for you, please schedule a consultation with our experienced practitioners.
PRP Hair Treatment Results and Recovery
There is no downtime or recovery from a PRP hair treatment. You will be able to return to normal activity immediately following your appointment.
PRP hair treatments require a series of around six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. You may not see noticeable results for approximately four months before hair density and quality improve.
Results from PRP hair treatments are temporary, and hair loss will continue to progress with time. However, maintenance treatments every few months to a year will allow you to keep the hair growth and density results.
What Does PRP Hair Treatment Feel Like?
Before your treatment begins, you may choose to receive a numbing agent to prevent any discomfort. PRP hair treatments are quick and comfortable. You may experience a pinch from the injection with mild pressure, but it is virtually painless. Mild soreness following your appointment is normal.
