What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels exfoliate and peel away dead skin cells to improve the quality of your skin. Chemical peels treat various skin concerns, including wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and uneven skin tone.
Combining chemical peels with other facial treatments, like Signature Facials, allows the skincare products to reach the deepest layer possible for the most significant impact.
Chemical Peels Benefits
Chemical peels provide more dramatic rejuvenation than at-home exfoliation treatments. Some benefits of our chemical peels include:
Healthier Skin
Chemical peels treat the skin by peeling away superficial layers of dead skin cells to encourage the growth of healthier, smoother skin. Deeper peels may promote collagen and elastin production for longer-lasting skin rejuvenation.
Improves Effectiveness of Skin Products
Often, serums and skin care products only reach already dead skin cells. These peels result in glowing skin and allow skincare products to work to their fullest potential.
Customizable
Chemical peels have three depths: light, medium, and deep. Light chemical peels gently exfoliate the surface layers and require maintenance treatments every few weeks. Medium peels may require one or two more treatments to reach your goals but provide more dramatic results. Deep chemical peels treat medical-grade skin conditions once.
You may choose chemical peels of varying depths to tailor your treatment to address your concerns. During your consultation, please discuss your personal goals with our practitioners.
What Do Chemical Peels Feel Like?
Chemical peels depend on the depth you receive. One of our experienced practitioners will cleanse your skin to prepare for the peel. Light and medium peels may feel mild stinging for a couple of minutes, easily resolved with cool compresses.
Deep chemical peels may require sedation and are applied in about 20 minutes with the aid of a gently cooling Zimmer device to ease discomfort. The discomfort is temporary as the peel reaches each layer for maximum results.
Chemical Peels Results and Recovery
Most chemical peels require little to no downtime. Although you may experience some redness for a couple of hours afterward, most patients can return to their daily lives immediately. Your skin may be more sensitive to direct sunlight. At Rejuvenessence, we recommend wearing SPF 30 or higher to prevent unwanted pigmentation.
If you choose a deep chemical peel, you may need to take up to a week for recovery. The deep peel penetrates deeper layers of skin for the most dramatic effect. For the smoothest recovery, please follow all aftercare instructions and avoid direct sunlight as your skin heals.
While you may notice some results immediately, lighter peels may require multiple appointments. After a series of treatments, your skin will be clearer, smoother, and brighter.
Ideal Candidates for Chemical Peels
Anyone wanting to improve skin quality is a good candidate for a chemical peel. These treatments improve fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, melasma, and uneven skin tone. Depending on your needs and your sensitivities, our practitioners will tailor a treatment plan to your needs.
If you have a tendency for hyperpigmentation, a history of abnormal skin scarring, or a skin condition making your skin more sensitive than most, please discuss your concerns with our staff at Rejuvenessence to ensure the best results.
